Minnesota: Premier Youth Tackle Football League

Announcing the first ever Premier Youth Football League (PYFL) in Minnesota!

Fostering a growing desire for the sport of tackle football, and for kids who are passionate about the game.

The mission of PYFL is to provide young athletes with opportunities to compete and win at some of the highest levels of youth football in an environment free from discrimination and prepare these athletes for lifelong contributions to society; to embrace equality, academic achievement and diversity through competition of sport.


League Structure

Details

Teams

  • Divisions include 6U (flag), and 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U (tackle)
  • Only 8 Teams per division
  • Open to all MN associations and players regardless of location.
  • Age verification for all players (cutoff date is July 1st)
  • This is not a recreational league and is recommended for advanced youth football coach and players only.

Games

  • 6 regular season games hosted on Sundays (# of games dependent on final team count)
  • 2 playoff games and a Championship game
  • 3 High School certified referees per game
  • Games played at centrally located High School Stadiums with turf fields, scoreboard, all fans in the stands, and music etc. for a “Friday Night Lights” High School atmosphere
  • Potential league Jamboree on July 27th (Must be registered for the league to attend)

Cost

6U: $500/Team (must be paid in full by 07/26/24)

8U, 10U, 12U, 14U: $2500/Team (must be paid in full by 07/26/24)

* An athlete 6, 8, 10 or 12 can play up 1 age bracket, but not on multiple teams.

* 5 coaches on the sidelines per team, with the option to elect a team manager as the 5th coach.

* Please note, all sideline passes require league certification and background screening.

Per Team Player Minimums

For 6U:

  • 5v5 flag format with a minimum of 8 players per team. 

For 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U:

  • Minimum of 20 players per team to be eligible for the league.

 

Ball Sizes

  • 6U: Mini
  • 8U: PeeWee
  • 10U: PeeWee/Junior
  • 12U: Junior/Youth
  • 14U: Youth/High School

Partnerships and Sponsorships

  • Collaborate with local schools, community centers, and non-profit organizations to access facilities, recruit players, and spread awareness.
  • Seek sponsorship from local businesses, sports equipment manufacturers, and philanthropic foundations to cover operational costs, provide scholarships, and offer resources to underserved communities.

Community Engagement and Support

  • Mobilize community leaders, businesses, and alumni networks to rally behind the youth football league, providing financial support, volunteer assistance, and promotional resources.
  • Organize community events and game-day experiences to bring together players, families, and fans, strengthening bonds and fostering a sense of belonging.

Positive Outlet for Youth

  • Position youth football as a positive outlet for personal growth, teamwork, and physical fitness, offering an alternative to negative influences.
  • Promote values such as discipline, resilience, and sportsmanship, instilling a sense of pride and accomplishment in participants and their families.
